Situation of orphans
Situation of orphans

AIDS has become one of the most serious tragedies that Africa has never known. It is responsible for the death of millions people and because of that hundreds of thousands of children become orphans. In Congo there are thousands of children who lost their fathers and mothers due to AIDS, and the number orphaned by AIDS increases everyday.

Most of them become victims as:

-          The orphans maybe forced by to leave their parents house, rendering them homeless.

-          The death of their parents can be a means to earn money for some immoral people. They sometimes take the opportunity to steal their possessions, forcing the children to live without financial means.

-          Sometimes orphans don’t have any support so they are abandoned to themselves.

-          When they are adopted by a family, sometimes they might be subjected to physical or mental abuse.

-          Most of these orphans don’t have financial support and may have to begin work very young in-order to support themselves.

-          Many of them don’t continue their studies even if they are still motivated to learn. Many children who are 8 to 10 years old stop going to school. (Reasons include: having no text-books, no note-books, non-payment of the insurance and tuition fees, etc…)

-          The older children (whatever their age) sometimes have to support their younger siblings. This is one of the most common reasons why they stop going to school. Unfortunately, sometimes that situation leads to the prostitution of the girls who want to support their younger siblings. Thus they are exposed to the HIV virus if they don’t have protected sexual relations.

-          Some orphans suffer from serious infections and disease but unfortunately, sometimes the family who look after them don’t earn enough money to afford medicines.

-          Orphans often have a poor quality of life and sometimes lack any form of entertainment which could enrich their lives.

Supporting orphans abandoned to their fate is our primary concern.
